The Conservatory at the Sussex County Fairgrounds is undergoing a colorful transformation. Flowers are being forced from their winter dormancy and carefully timed to be in full bloom for the 12th anniversary of the Springfest Flower & Garden Show.
This year’s show will run from Thursday, March 6 through Sunday, March 9. The show is known as “The Garden Lovers Flower Show” featuring high quality horticultural displays. The area’s finest landscape companies are busy building beautiful stone walls, laying patio stones, staining arbors and gazebos and creating magnificent waterfalls and ponds filled with colorful koi. This year’s display gardens are already looking more creative than ever, as each designer takes advantage of the new layout featuring paths throughout the gardens, bringing visitors close up to the fragrant flowers and allowing them to discover hidden garden treasures. This year’s show will feature locally and nationally known Garden Greats such as Ralph Snodsmith , Ken Druse and Ray Rogers. Visitors will enjoy the inspiring designs at the popular Window Box Competition, shopping at the Market Place, and dining in the Café with food catered by one of Sussex County’s finest restaurants. After strolling through the gardens, take some time to listen to a garden lecture or play Garden Treasure Hunt with the kids for fun prizes. Friday night visitors will once again enjoy the moonlight shining through the Conservatory as the show stays open until 8PM. Special lighting techniques will inspire ways to extend the hours in our own gardens. The elegant evening of “The Twelfth Annual Springfest Scholarship Gala” has become a popular event for hundreds of garden lovers and agricultural dignitaries. The March 8th event starts at 7 PM and requires advance tickets. (973-948-9448) Soon the dust of construction will settle at Springfest and the transformation will be complete. Doors will open on Thursday, March 6 at 10 AM. The show will run from Thursday to Sunday-10 AM to 5 PM each day. Friday night until 8 PM.
