The sun-drenched conservatory at the Sussex County Fairgrounds, Augusta, NJ is the setting for the 12th annual Springfest Flower & Garden Show March 6-9, 2008.
Known as ‘The Garden Lover’s Flower Show’, this not-for-profit show with its emphasis on home horticulture, seeks to educate, inspire, and share the passion for gardens, plants and landscape design. Last year, Springfest attracted over eight thousand winter weary visitors from the tri –state area seeking ideas and advice for their gardens and landscaping.
Highly regarded as NJ’s Best (The Star Ledger), this gem of a show has grown through the years to attract nationally renowned horticulturists and garden writers. Among the Garden Stars featured at this year’s show:
Ken Druse- award winning garden writer, radio host, photographer
Vicki Johnson – garden columnist, photographer and radio co–host.
Ralph Snodsmith- popular host of “The Garden Hotline”’ lecturer, gardening editor, and teacher will treat visitors to his lecture on Thursday @ 3pm.
Dave Daehnke- Director of Van Vleck House and Gardens, “The Gardening Guru”, radio host, garden writer for Gardener News.
Chris Rubino- Monrovia nursery, lecturer
Ray Rogers- prolific garden writer, lecturer, editor

This year’s event, sponsored by Monrovia, includes some favorites from last year and adds some new and exciting attractions:

Master Gardener Horticulture Information Desk: practical advice on a wide range of topics.
Garden Café: Enjoy a gourmet lunch or snacks, catered by one of Sussex County’s finest restaurants, in the cozy Dining Terrace
Kids’ Zone: Hands-on experiences for young gardeners hosted by Summer Blossoms 4-H and sponsored by Cerbos’ Parsippany Greenhouses and Hautau Greenhouses
Expanded Marketplace: with great shopping opportunities
Educational lectures to include water gardening, orchid growing and more.
The Twelfth Annual Scholarship Gala is planned each year to benefit the Springfest Agricultural Scholarship Fund. Guests will be treated to the strains of music from the Skylands Youth Symphony as they stroll through the gardens while sampling butlered hors d’oeuvres. Full catered buffet dinner and open bar will be followed by the Presentation of Scholarships. The Saturday March 8 event begins at 7:00 PM and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $50 per person and can be reserved by calling 973-948-9448 or visiting the website.
Admission to Springfest is $9 for Adults, Children under 12 are free, Senior Citizens $7.
Senior Citizen Day is Thursday - $5 for seniors 65+. Sussex County Transit will make special stops on Thursday and Friday. Handicap accessible.
This show is produced by the non-profit Agricultural Division/Sussex County Farm and Horse Show, dedicated volunteers, and generous supporters who share a passion for gardening. Proceeds benefit agricultural education.
