THE FUTURE!!
SPRINGFEST 2009
A Very Big, Very New Addition
a beautiful new
conservatory!
For many years the Springfest Committee has been researching
the possibility of designing a structure to connect our Conservatory
(greenhouse) with our Exhibition Hall (Farm Fun Building), thereby eliminating
the iNconvenience
and tremendous expense of hiring a 100’ x 40’ tent each year. Unfortunately the cost of even a simple pole
barn was so far beyond our budget that the building was relegated to “dream
only” status.
then – Along came an angel – in the
form of
bev and bruce Gordon.
Residents of Sussex County have benefited in many ways
through the generosity of the Gordon Family. Now Springfest, The New Jersey State Fair, and
the entire county will once again be the fortunate recipients of their
commitment to the environmental and social betterment of the world they live
in.
Our “dream only” has become a reality! A beautiful new conservatory will be built on
the site between the old greenhouse and the Exhibition Hall.
In the Fall of 2007, after much research, the Gordons and
the Springfest Committee found Creative Conservatories, a full service design
and build company, located in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. You can view some of
their lovely structures at their website, www.creativeconservatories.com
The exterior of our conservatory will consist of a combination of glass and a
hardwood mortise and tenon maintenance-free framework. An interior ambience of warmth and elegance
is created with the use of exposed natural oiled mahogany. State of the art, energy efficient windows
that can be opened for fresh air, as well as a retractable shade system are
additional features.
Through the years many visitors to Springfest have commented
that its unique setting in a glass house provides natural garden lighting that
cannot be duplicated by artificial means. Now, through the generosity of the
Gordons, in our future Springfest shows, we will have not just one, but two
glass structures in which to display gardens designed and built by our
carefully selected participants.
Watch for the grand opening of this elegant addition to our
flower and garden show at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in the early months of
2009.
